A couple of years ago, my friend and certified life coach Shannon Beck posted on Facebook that she was looking for someone to help her redesign her website, and was offering coaching sessions for trade.
I have never responded to something so fast, and I am so glad I did, because Shannon is the reason that I’m living my dream, working for myself, from home, doing what I love.
I’ll be writing a blog post about my magical life coaching experience, but until then, I’ll share the story of this beautiful project.
About a year after I built her first website, Shannon came to me with the idea of building a second website specifically for her individual coaching services, and redesigning her current site to be geared towards her professional coaching services.
This two-part project started here, with shannonthecoach.com. Since this was going to be for individual coaching, I wanted to create something that represented Shannon’s style of coaching as I knew it.
This site features lots of movement as dynamic elements slide and swing and flip into place. Visitors dive deeper into the endless ocean as they scroll down the page with a subtle gradient of Shannon’s branded colors. Oceanic parallax backgrounds host titles and transitions throughout the site, flowing gently along with the content.
With the exception of Shannon’s headshot, all of the photography on the site was stock, and that really worked for this project. Together, we found a collection of non-typical, modern stock photos to represent her demographic.
Shannon had a vision of a collage of photos, and I brought that to life using the photos from the internal pages. I placed that on the top of the front page in a slow, continuous scroll behind Shannon’s tagline: Be Brave and Get It!
We also integrated a MailChimp popup for her mailing list, and a fun contact form (powered by TypeForm) for potential clients to contact her.
This was my first official website as a freelance designer, so it holds a special place in my heart. Just like Shannon Beck herself!
